So yeah, it feels like a boardgame, it controls almost like a boardgame and it is interested in the 1942 campaigns of either the Germans, the USA, the United Kingdom or the Russians. Naturally, your choice is going to be dictated by your current strategy, economic situation and, hopefully by the way your enemy is placed on the map. For once, the game is played turnbased, and for each turn there are 7 different options that can be taken, for each unit available. However, interactivity wise it has so much more to do with boardgames then with anything else, that it is going to feel like quite an eclectic experience for some. Axis and Allies definitely has two of these things, straightforward: the hexbased gameplay and the historical background. I guess everyone has their own opinion about what a wargame should be for some it's the hexbased interface, for others is the level at which you control the battlefield, and for others it's also the recreation of the famous battles of history in as a close as possible manner to the originals.
